“How Politics Makes Us Stupid” musing presented a model referred to as “Identity-Protective Cognition.” There was a question posed as to whether it would be appropriate to add additional loops to increase the complexity and the extent to which the model reflected some particular aspect of reality. What follows may be one of many possible extensions. The model that follows is a revision of a model developed over 25 years ago entitled “Acceptance of System Dynamics,” with the realization that it likely has far more general applicability than initially realized.
